NFLDraftScout.com provides a positional breakdown of team needs looking at
the 2011 NFL Draft. Free agents listed are those expected to be unrestricted
free agents based on the new rules in the Collective Bargaining Agreement
which allow players with at least six accrued NFL seasons to become UFAs.
The ratings, broken down by position for each team, will be updated
frequently leading up to the draft and beyond. An explanation of what a
rating number represents is listed at the bottom of each page.

Houston failed to take the next step, as many thought they would. Bringing in new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips should help, but improving the talent on that side of the ball is also key. Rookie CB Kareem Jackson has been victimized, as you'd expect, so he needs more help in the secondary. DT is another sore spot. Most of their offensive personnel will be back (along with head coach Gary Kubiak), but they'll need to re-sign TE Owen Daniels or find his replacement.
The Colts are still winning despite losing offensive targets TE Dallas Clark and WR Anthony Gonzalez to injury, thanks to the play of QB Peyton Manning (so what's new?). The offensive line will needs to be revamped, however, as few of the team's recent picks have flourished. Rush defense is again a problem for the Colts, and they'll need to beef up the interior defensive line and linebackers to remedy the situation. The team will have a difficult decision to make this off-season on the future of SS Bob Sanders if he doesn't stay healthy.
Somehow coach Jack Del Rio saved his job for 2011 despite a 8-8 record and late-season fall; but can Del Rio keep his QB, David Garrard (15 INT), around if he wants to keep the gig past next year? Or will Trent Edwards re-sign as a restricted free agent to compete for the starting job. The loss of DE Aaron Kampman to another ACL injury adds to a pass rush problem on the edge which, in turn, compounds the problems presented by the secondary's uneven play.
The Titans are yet another team in transition, as it appears that head coach Jeff Fisher won the "me-vs.-him" battle with Vince Young. Finding another young QB (assuming Rusty Smith is not the answer) will be a chore, and Kerry Collins may not be back, either. A slew of free agents on both sides of the ball will also change the look of the team in the back half of the roster. Improvements in the offensive line, linebackers and secondary should tighten things up on both sides of the ball.
