It's sounding more and more like Peyton Manning won't land in Miami with the Dolphins. Trading away receiver Brandon Marshall probably didn't help the Miami cause, but even before that move, the rumblings were that Manning wasn't a huge fan of the Dolphins front office set-up.
Thus, it seems like they're moving on to a quarterback that might make more sense (for Joe Philbin in the long term, that is).
According to multiple reports, Packers backup Matt Flynn, who's in the process of visiting the Seahawks on Thursday and Friday, has set up a meeting with the Dolphins.
The reason this makes sense for Flynn is because Philbin was his offensive coordinator in Green Bay, and the reason this makes sense for Philbin is because he got to see what Flynn could do every time the Packers practiced the past few years.
This way, Philbin can run the offense he wants to run. With Manning, he'd probably have to acquiesce to whatever the future Hall of Famer wanted to run.
Of course, Flynn actually has to leave Seattle first. Like we saw with Mario Williams in Buffalo the past few days, the best way to sign a free agent is to make sure he doesn't leave the city without a new deal in hand.
