There's been so much talk about Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez and how they'll get along and when Tebow will take Sanchez's job from him and how that will affect the Jets locker room that the other quarterback in New York -- you know, the one who's got a pair of Super Bowl titles, including the one from two months ago -- has been overlooked.
Don't think Giants quarterback Eli Manning hasn't noticed.
“(The) New York Giants just won a championship,” Manning told Fox News Channel (via the NY Daily News), “yet I'm still the third most talked about quarterback in my own city.”
Not that Manning would mind missing the attention. Actually, check that. Manning is hosting Saturday Night Live on May 5, something else neither Sanchez nor Tebow has accomplished, so obviously, he'll get a little bit of love on that day at least.
But then, Manning might go back into obscurity for the rest of the offseason workouts and training camp (in other words, until real regular-season games begin again).
“I feel I'm entering the best part of my career,” he said. “I said it last year before the season, I said these next seven years are going to be my best football years and I'm going to focus on that …”
And for now? While Tebow and Sanchez continue to make headlines for mostly irrelevant reasons -- did you know that Tebow has moved to Hoboken, N.J., near where Manning lives?!? -- Manning will continue to toil in anonymity. You know, relatively speaking.
“I'll continue to enjoy this,” he said. “And when we get our rings, I'll continue to celebrate our championship season.”
