Report: QB Matt Leinart visiting Oakland Raiders

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com
Six years ago, Matt Leinart was the No. 10 pick in the NFL Draft. Now he's close to signing with his third team, the Raiders, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Leinart was the second quarterback off the board in 2006, behind Vince Young (and one pick before Jay Cutler). His career in Arizona was marred by injury and inconsistency, and after splitting time with Kurt Warner in 2007, Warner won the job outright in 2008. And by 2010, the Cardinals had parted ways with Leinart, who signed with Houston where he served as Matt Schaub's backup. Leinart has 18 career starts, the last coming in Week 10 of the 2011 season where he didn't finish the game after suffering a shoulder injury.

Now he appears headed back to California where he and Terrelle Pryor will be on the depth chart behind Carson Palmer. It's probably not how Leinart envisioned his career playing out but it could be worse. He could be Vince Young, who's currently looking for a job.
