We're entering one of the slowest parts of the NFL offseason, which probably explains why we lead off the latest Pick-6 Podcast with a mini-review of Eli Manning's performance on Saturday Night Live.
But even though the NFL Draft was eight days ago, there is still plenty to talk about. Like, say, the ongoing Saints' saga. The latest news: Jonathan Vilma, Anothony Hargrove, Will Smith and Scott Fujita have appealed their suspensions (ranging from 3 games to 16) for their roles in the Saints bounty scandal. The bad news: the man who handed down the punishments, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, is the every same man who will rule on the appeals. So, yeah, barring legal intervention (and it may come to that), we don't expect anything to change.
Other topics: did the Seahawks really reach for Bruce Irvin or was that all a media fabrication? And what about the Browns -- was there any rational explanation for taking quarterback Brandon Weeden at No. 22 instead of No. 37 (spoiler: we couldn't think of one)? Did the Bills do the right thing by signing Fred Jackson to an extension? And lastly, Ben Roethlisberger has graduated from college. In just a shade under a decade, too. All right.
As for the latest edition of the Pick-6 Podcast, talking starts promptly. (And don't forget, you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes.)
