Over the weekend, CBSSports.com's Jason LaCanfora reported that Chad Ochocinco, freshly removed from New England, worked out with the Dolphins.

On Monday, Miami coach Joe Philbin confirmed just that, saying at his press conference that the Dolphins "recently" worked out the free-agent wide receiver.

"We're doing our homework," Philbin said, per Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post.

I mentioned the Dolphins as a possible landing spot for Ocho when writing about his release from the Patriots, and I still think it makes sense. Ochocinco isn't a locker-room problem, he'll provide some much-needed publicity, he'll fit in on Hard Knocks, and, most importantly, he could actually make an impact on the field for Miami, which is incredibly thin at receiver.

At the very least, Ocho's got would-be rushing title champ Reggie Bush in his corner.

"We would love to have him," Bush said on NFL Network Monday, via Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. "I think he's got a lot left."

Reports all indicated that Ocho was in fine shape with New England. The issue, according to most accounts, was grasping the playbook.

So if he does indeed have "a lot left," and if Jeff Ireland and Philbin believe he can contribute, there's a very good chance that Ocho could end up landing a gig in South Beach for 2012. Worst case could be that he'll be an interesting "can he make the roster" storyline for Hard Knocks.
