Warm up your "making it rain" jokes, kids, because according to a report, Bengals defensive back Adam Jones (nee Pacman) has been ordered to pay two victims a total of nearly $11 million for a shooting incident at a strip club during the 2007 NBA All-Star Game.
"Moments ago," according to TMZ, a Nevada jury awarded judgments for Aaron Cudworth and Thomas Urbanski, two security guards at the Minxx strip club in Las Vegas. Urbanski's wife was awarded an additional $750,000.
As has been widely noted, the incident occurred when Jones "made it rain" on exotic dancers at the gentleman's club. When the dancers went to pick up all the money Jones threw in the air, the football player got upset.
A fight ensued, it spilled outside the Minxx and then a shooting (not by Jones) happened. Three people were shot, including Cudworth and Urbanksi.
Cudworth will receive $1.3 million and Urbanski, now a paraplegic as a result of the shooting, will be awarded $9.6 million, the report said.
It's crazy to think that less than two days ago we were writing about Jones providing life lessons for youngsters (and Brandon Weeden) at the NFL's rookie symposium. Or perhaps it's not; it's more than coincidental that bad news about Jones emerged rapidly after some good chatter about his life. Regardless, he's now got another cautionary tale to offer.
