New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees has been making the media rounds this week discussing everything from his contract situation ("I'd never sit out the season") to the impending Saints bounty scandal that has led to unprecedented sanctions from the NFL.
On Thursday night, Brees will appear on the "Late Show With David Letterman" to continue the Bountygate conversation. You can spy a preview of their conversation below:
QB Drew Brees speaks about the Bountygate accusations when he visits CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman" on June 28 at 11:35 p.m. ET.
Brees calls the scandal "an extremely unfortunate deal” on "all sides." When Letterman asked if there was truth to the matter, the Saints quarterback was frank. “Well, I don't know because, you know, I think our position as players has been we just want to see the facts of the investigation and just put the truth out there and let us move on.”
“I'll be honest with you, and I think I can speak for all fans in America for that matter, we are tired of hearing about it," he said. "We don't want to talk about it anymore. Put forth the facts, the truth, and if indeed there was a pay-to-injure scheme, then people will get punished, and if there's not, then let's exonerate these men because, at this point, it seems like it's a smear campaign. We're dragging them through the mud, we're ruining their reputations and careers with no true evidence.”
Brees also discusses the need for concussion testing as well as his involvement with the World Food Programme. The "Late Show" airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
