Antwaan Randle-El planning to retire from NFL, brother says

After skipping the 2011 NFL season, Antwaan Randle-El will retire, according to his brother.

Randle-El is set to make the announcement at his upcoming skills camp at Thorton High School, NWI.com reports.

The former Indiana quarterback was drafted in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Steelers, who converted him to wide receiver. In five years (including a one-year return in 2010) with the Steelers and four years with the Redskins, Randle-El caught 370 passes for 4,467 yards and 15 touchdowns.

He very notably threw a pass in the Steelers Super Bowl victory over the Seahawks, hitting Hines Ward for a 43-yard touchdown in Pittsburgh's 21-10 win.

That wasn't the only time Randle-El's pass-throwing skills were utilized in his career -- he's 22 of 27 for 323 yards and six touchdowns.

Before the 2006 season, Randle-El signed a seven-year, $31 million deal with the Redskins. (Man, that contract is so very much Redskins.)

Washington, like Pittsburgh, also used him as a kick returner. Randle-El returned 79 kicks for 1,759 yards and a touchdown during his career, and 311 punts for 2,557 yards and five touchdowns.

No one's going to consider him one of the most dangerous wideouts in NFL history, but thanks to being the only wideout to ever throw a touchdown pass in a Super Bowl, he'll certainly be remembered.
