|Will the Ravens pay Flacco what he wants on his next contract? (US PRESSWIRE)|
With a week until training camps begin for some NFL teams, it's been an especially busy time of year -- and not always for the right reasons. On Monday, several franchise players and their respective teams came terms on new deals with the Bears' Matt Forte and the Ravens' Ray Rice among the biggest names. On the latest Pick-6 Podcast, Will Brinson and Ryan Wilson talk about whether either team overpaid since running backs are relatively easy to replace.
More than that, what does this mean for Rice's teammate, quarterback Joe Flacco? Depending on who you ask, Flacco is anywhere from the 10th to 15th-best quarterback in the league (though he'll tell you he's the best). His rookie contract expires after the 2012 season, which means that the Ravens will either try to sign him to a long-term deal or slap him with the franchise tag. But how much will Flacco be looking for? We guess in the six-year, $100 million range, though whatever the Falcons do with Matt Ryan could dictate what Flacco wants.
We also talk about the rash of arrests over the weekend. From Marshawn Lynch's DUI to Elvis Dumervil's aggravated assault (road rage, it turns out) to Dez Bryant hitting his mother with a hat, we discuss it all. Chatting starts promptly (and don't forget, you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes).
