Four days after Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was seen weaving from lane to lane in Oakland and arrested on suspicion of DUI, the Alameda County district attorney's office officially has charged him with driving under the influence.
Alameda County had until an Aug. 14 court appearance to decide whether it would charge Lynch. According to police, Lynch was pulled over about 3:20 a.m. on Saturday and showed signs of intoxication. He was given multiple field sobriety tests before he was arrested.
You'll recall that Lynch was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Buffalo in May 2008, and he pleaded guilty to driving away from the scene after hitting a woman with his car.
In March 2009, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge and was suspended three games by the league. Obviously, commissioner Roger Goodell won't like this latest news.
But Lynch might have real money problems according to ESPN.com's Ross Tucker.
Uh-oh, Marshawn. An NFL exec told me suspension for conduct detrimental/substance abuse defaults contract & voids guarantee.— Ross Tucker (@RossTuckerNFL) July 18, 2012
In March, you'll recall that Lynch signed a four-year deal worth $31 million, with $17 million guaranteed.
