The last week has been a crazy, and solely unsatisfying week for tackle
And now, sigh, we have this.
The— Carolina Panthers (@Panthers) August 2, 2012
#Panthers have terminated the contract of T Jeff Otah.
The move isn't a surprise, of course. The Panthers seemingly were doing whatever they could to rid themselves of the former first-round pick that's only played four games in the past two years because of injuries. Clearly, he can't pass an NFL physical right now (he failed again with the Panthers after he was returned) and though Carolina tried to get anything it could for him, even a swap for a seventh-round conditional pick isn't going to happen at this point.
"Anytime you let go of a player as talented as Jeff is, it's a tough decision,” general manager Marty Hurney told reporters, including the AP. “After he came back and talking to him, he just doesn't feel like he's got over the injuries of the past two seasons and doesn't know when he'll be ready."
So, the Panthers will move on, and Otah's career, to put it nicely, is in major jeopardy at this point. But hey, some good news for Otah.
