We might be just one game into the 2012 NFL season but injuries are easily the biggest storyline. Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is out, Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is in, and according to CBSSports.com's Pat Kirwan, the Cards' Beanie Wells will play Sunday against Seattle.
it looks like Beanie Wells will go in ARI but I expect most carries for Ryan Williams, Marshawn Lynch will get 10-15 crries for Seattle— Pat Kirwan (@PatKirwanCBS) September 9, 2012
Wells was Arizona's first-round pick in 2009 and Williams, who missed last season with a knee injury, was a second-rounder in 2011.
Whoever is in the backfield, starting quarterback John Skelton is going to need all the help that he can get. Arizona's offense sputtered in the preseason, mostly because of the upheaval at quarterback. With the Seahawks featuring one of the NFC's best defenses -- one that will presumably focus on stopping the run and force the game on Skelton's shoulders -- Wells and Williams will be key to any success Arizona has Sunday.
For what it's worth, all but one of the CBSSports.com experts are picking the Seahawks to win.
