Suspended players in Saints bounty program to meet with Roger Goodell on Tuesday

After the four players who were suspended for their role in the Saints bounty program won their appeal last week and the NFL invited them to meet with commissioner Roger Goodell before he sets a new punishment, linebacker Jonathan Vilma indicated he wanted a chance to talk to Goodell.

Now, the other three (Anthony Hargrove, Will Smith and Scott Fujita) are taking Goodell up on the offer as well.

CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reports that the meeting between Goodell and the four players has been scheduled for Tuesday.

Is there anything the foursome can say that will convince Goodell he should reduce or rescind their suspensions (Vilma got a year, Hargrove got eight games, Smith got four and Fujita got three)?

At this point, that's unclear. But in the past, Goodell has shown a willingness to ease the punishments of those who meet with him face to face. After the court system slapped down Goodell's original ruling, there seems to be a decent chance that could happen again.
