Jets LB Bart Scott threatens reporter in locker room

It's business as usual for the Jets, an outfit that ended last season with one of their best players (wide receiver Santonio Holmes) allegedly quitting on his teammates and coach Rex Ryan promising to fix his locker room. Instead, we've gotten more of the same.

In January, linebacker Bart Scott wasn't speaking to the media except to instruct them about where they shouldn't stand before pointing them in the right direction. Now two weeks into the 2012 season and days after the Jets were manhandled by the Steelers, Scott has had another run-in with reporters. This time, it was with Dan Leberfeld of Jets Confidential.

On Friday, Leberfeld tried to take a photo of Scott as he was leaving the locker room while speaking to ESPNNewYork.com's Jane McManus. That prompted the linebacker to yell that “I'll smack the s--- out of you," according to the New York Daily News.

“And I'm going to sue you,” Leberfeld responded.

"I don't care," Scott allegedly shot back.

Apparently, this isn't the first time that Scott and Leberfeld have had issues. The Daily News reports that Leberfeld on Wednesday took a photo of Scott while he spoke with a CBSSports.com reporter. The reporter then left the room after noticing Leberfeld.

Last week, Scott declared a "media mutiny" for his perception of how the Jets were portrayed by the press and Leberfeld wanted to show with the photo that Scott's silence was selective.

The Jets issued the following statement through team spokesman Bruce Speight.

"We work hard to foster an appropriate working environment. We regret this incident occurred and are reviewing the matter."

These are the things that most teams don't ever concern themselves with. But, then again, most teams aren't the Jets.
