After protection broke down, Ryan Fitzpatrick flipped a shovel pass to Spiller (who had spent most of the play blocking). Spiller picked up 25 yards (though the play was negated), and after being tackled he lay on the ground for a few minutes writhing in pain.
Spiller kept pointing to his right shoulder and was eventually helped off the field by the Bills trainers, with his arm appearing immobile. The running back was carted to the locker room.
The Bills annouced that Spiller is out for the game with a shoulder injury. There's still hope that the injury could be something like a separated shoulder or "lesser" injury, but with the way Spiller looked, there's no doubt that the Bills are probably prepping for the worst-case scenario.
In better news, Fred Jackson could potentially come back to practice as early as this week, which could mean a return for Jackson as early as Week 4. That's an optimistic projection for sure, but it's possible. In the meantime, expect Tashard Choice, who's filling in on Sunday, to see the lion's share of carries going forward.
