Seahawks auction off WR Golden Tate's game-worn jersey from MNF win

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com
Wondering where Tate's jersey went after Monday night's win? It's up for auction. (US Presswire/Seahawks.com)

Our long national nightmare is over. The full-time officials have returned and even the White House called it "a great day for America."

Indeed.

(Seriously, people are so ridiculously giddy that the replacement officials are gone that referee Gene Steretore, who will be working Thursday night's Browns-Ravens game, received a standing ovation when he stepped on the M&T Bank Field. The man actually stopped, acknowledged the crowd and tipped his cap. Never in the history of sports has that happened. We're watching history here, people!)

Approximately 105,000 folks who are less than pleased: Green Bay residents. Unless NFL commissioner Roger Goodell unveils a time machine at his next press conference, the Packers still lost to the Seahawks on Monday night on the most controversial call of the replacement officials' three-week run.

With that in mind, we'll assume that this next bit of news won't go over particularly well: the Seahawks are auctioning off wide receiver Golden Tate's game-worn jersey.

Details via Auctions.Seahawks.com: "In the final seconds of what promises to be a game not soon forgotten, Seahawks Wide Receiver Golden Tate and Packers Defensive Back M.D. Jennings came down with a Russell Wilson Hail Mary in the North End Zone at CenturyLink Field. The officials awarded the Seahawks a touchdown and a 14-12 victory on Monday Night Football.

"This is the jersey Golden wore that night. Own a piece of history by bidding on this authentic, Golden Tate game-worn #81 jersey. … This jersey is game-worn, un-washed and in the exact condition it was in when the player took it off at the end of the game."

This seems like something Packers lineman T.J. Lang would buy for the sole purpose of torching with flamethrower in the town square.

The current bid is $1,000 and the auction closes Monday, Oct. 8.
