Video: Falcons QB Matt Ryan talks MVP, Super Bowl aspirations

The Falcons are 5-0 for the first time ever. It's been six years since this was Michael Vick's team, and four years since Atlanta used the third-overall pick on quarterback Matt Ryan. Franchise QBs are generally a 50-50 proposition -- half washing out and the other half turning out to be better than average. Ryan has been much more than that, and it has a lot to do with Atlanta's fast start.

Ryan sat down with CBS Sports' Shannon Sharpe to talk about the first five weeks, the players around him who have made it possible, and his hopes for the final three-quarters of the season.

"I think for everybody it's an incredible honor," Ryan said of being an MVP candidate, "but there are four quarters to the season … we have a long way to go. Hopefully we can continue to play well and I can continue to play well."

Ryan on playmakers Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez:

"Each of them, first and foremost, wants to win and are willing to do whatever it takes. All three of those guys are unselfish but at the same time confident and want the ball."

As for whether the 5-0 Falcons are getting the respect they deserve: "Not something I think about," Ryan said.

Sharpe also asked Ryan and Gonzalez what it would mean to win a Super Bowl this year.

"That's the main reason why I want to stick around," Gonzalez conceded. "Because I see the potential to do that with this team. Certainly, we're a long way from that -- I don't even want to start thinking about that."

Ryan added: "There's one goal, and that's to win a championship."

Through five weeks of the season the Falcons appear to be right on track.
