Ed Reed admits he's playing with torn labrum

On Wednesday night, Ravens safety Ed Reed told a radio station that he was playing with a torn labrum in his shoulder, and on Thursday, he told reporters (via the Baltimore Sun) the injury wasn't a big deal. “[It's] not anything to worry about ... I can still tackle. I ain't drop no bombshell, man. I ain't no pitcher. I don't play baseball. As long as I'm not throwing ... It is what it is. I've been dealing with it. It's all right."

The problem -- or potential problem, I suppose -- is that Reed hasn't been listed by the team on its practice reports.

Which is probably why, as ESPN's Ed Werder reports, the NFL is looking into Reed's injury to see if there was any wrongdoing in the distribution of that information. The Ravens says it's a nonissue, because Reed hasn't been undergoing treatment for his shoulder. Coach John Harbaugh estimated Friday that the team has 25 or 30 players dealing with injuries similar to Reed's.

Before the game against the Eagles, Reed was on the injury report with a hamstring, but the report said nothing about a shoulder.

"I don't know why,” he said. “I'm sure a lot of guys in this league have had injuries and they're not reported. That's part of the game that fans and y'all don't know nothing about."

Well, it sounds like the NFL will do its best to learn all about it.
