What was originally thought to be a sprained right toe could be much more than that for one of the Cowboys' best players, linebacker Sean Lee. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora confirms an ESPNDallas.com report that Lee could need season-ending surgery. A final determination will come Wednesday but all signs point to him being done for 2012.

Lee, who suffered the sprained toe in Sunday's win over the Panthers, was on crutches Monday.

Originally a 2010 second-round pick out of Penn State, Lee has started 21 games, including all six this season and 15 in 2011. He has 134 career tackles, seven interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Dan Connor would replace him in the lineup.
