Steelers to wear 1934 throwback uniforms against Redskins

So this is the weekend. Back in April, the Steelers unveiled their new (old) throwback uniforms. As you can see, there are a lot of stripes -- and not the flattering kind. We don't say this because they're horizontal but because they're hideous.

Whatever, this is football, not Project Runway, and when the Redskins come to Heinz Field Sunday they'll see 45 grown men dressed in what looks like -- to borrow team president Art Rooney II's words -- "a prison uniform."

The Steelers last wore this get-up in 1934. Miraculously, no one burned all evidence of them the moment the season ended. Seventy-eight years later, Rooney says he thinks "fans will be excited to see our players wear them in action this year."

Uh huh.

Silver lining: If the Steelers can't stop Robert Griffin III by conventional means (like, say, tackling, something they've struggled with this season), there's a decent chance he suffers vertigo from staring at these jerseys for any length of time. So there's that.
