Blaine Gabbert on Tim Tebow rumors: 'I think we're pretty satisfied here at QB'

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

The trade deadline always brings about silly rumors. Like, for instance, Tim Tebow getting traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

CBS Sports Jason La Canfora already shot that one down on Sunday. But on a web page that no longer exists (!), Action News Jacksonville reported a trade for Tebow was in the works. Naturally, that prompted Tebow-related questions to Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert

"I wouldn't consider it a battle," Gabbert said via CBSSports.com's John Kreger. "I think we're pretty satisfied here at quarterback."

Gabbert's answer is hilarious on so many different levels. First, he's asked about potentially battling a quarterback who isn't even on his team for his own job! Such is the power of the Tebow. Even Mike Mularkey said that "those rumors fly around here monthly."

Secondly, I freaking love the confidence that Gabbert spits with respect to the satisfaction of him at the quarterback position. He's technically right; there's little chance the Jaguars are trying to upgrade the quarterback position, at least this year. But Gabbert is 30th in the NFL in passing yards, last in yards per attempt, last in yards per game and 28th in passing touchdowns (though he has more than Cam Newton!).

In other words, he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire in his second year. Gabbert has had some nice games. But for the most part, he has been a decent cog in a conservative offense (trust me, I have him in a really, really deep fantasy league, sigh).

But having said all that, yes, he totally has the right and the freedom to laugh at any and all Tebow rumors. Just like the rest of us.
