Bears CB Charles Tillman will miss Texans game Sunday if baby doesn't 'stay in'

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

Charles Tillman's having a monster year so far -- including an endorsement from the recently re-elected POTUS -- and warrants consideration for Defensive Player of the Year. On Sunday, he might have a chance to go (somewhat) head-to-head with his top competition -- and CBSSports.com's consensus midseason DPOY pick -- when the Bears face Houston and defensive end J.J. Watt.

But Peanut will need his soon-to-be-born daughter to "stay in," otherwise he's going to miss Sunday night's game to watch his wife give birth.

"The wife is due any day, so hopefully this baby can stay in until after the game on Sunday,” Tillman told 670 the Score in Chicago. "I hope she stays in -- I'm having another girl. Monday, for sure, but if she comes Sunday, I think I'm going to have to be at the hospital Sunday. So, I hope she stays in until after Sunday."

Is "stay in" a medical term? Because it sounds ... weird.

Whatever, it's hard to fault Tillman too much if he ends up missing the game. A man's got to have his priorities straight, and witnessing your child's birth is vastly more important than playing in the best football game of the week, even if it features two 7-1 records and might be a Super Bowl preview.

If Tillman's not able to play as a result of his wife giving birth, it could drastically change the way the Texans attack the Bears. Tim Jennings is having a big year so far and is a dynamite cornerback. But at 5-foot-8, he's not exactly the guy you want matching up on 6-3 receiver Andre Johnson.

Chicago's run defense is stout, and so is the Texans' rushing offense. So this game could very well come down to the Texans being able to use their top target in the passing game if they reach a stalemate on the ground.

Which is why the Bears are most certainly hoping Tillman's newest daughter decides to "stay in."
