Thought the Steelers worst nightmare would be struggling to beat the 1-7 Chiefs at home on Monday night? Think again: it can get worse, and it did when Ben Roethlisberger was taken to the locker room in the third quarter with a right shoulder injury.
Initially he was listed as questionable to return, but he was later taken further back into the tunnel for evaluation. CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports that Roethlisberger left the stadium to have an MRI on his shoulder.
A source tells La Canfora that there is real concern about Roethlisberger's shoulder and that "it does not look good."
While Kansas City was driving, the cameras cut to Ben being taken back to the locker room and Byron Leftwitch furiously warming up on the sidelines.
The Steelers announced that Roethlisberger was questionable to return following the injury.
During Leftwich's first drive, the Chiefs somehow managed to pull off a rare feat: they were penalized 15 yards for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for a group celebration after they scooped up what appeared to be an obvious incomplete pass from Leftwich. The play was never blown dead, but it was reversed quickly ... and Kansas City was penalized anyway.
That was their second ridiculous and over-the-top penalty on a would-be touchdown.
