NFL to review play of Ndamukong Suh catching Matt Schaub in groin

Another year, another Thanksgiving Day incident for Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, this time against the Texans. A year after he stomped on Packers guard Evan Blake Dietrich-Smith, Suh's left foot ended up in the crotch of Houston quarterback Matt Schaub.

After the game, Schaub wasn't interested in reliving the play. "I really don't have anything to say about that play or that person," he said.

Schaub's coach, Gary Kubiak, sounded a similar tone. “I won't go there,” he said. “I didn't like it. Obviously, I let the official know.”

Suh, meanwhile, left the locker room before speaking with reporters.

But this isn't over. NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson said the league will review the play.

"In our normal course, we identify hits for potential discipline," Anderson said Friday via NFL Network's Albert Breer. "Certainly, that will be one that will be reviewed after the weekend's slate of game as part of normal course of action. ... It drew our attention."

Anderson sounded skeptical when asked about the play on Friday's Dan Patrick Show.

“It appeared to be a little out of the ordinary, let's just say,” he told host Mike Florio who was sitting in for Patrick (via PFT). “It didn't appear to be a natural football move, but we'll withhold judgment until we see all the angles.”

It doesn't help that Suh has a history of running afoul of the rules.

“Certainly, we have to go on a player's history,” Anderson continued. “That will certainly factor into our thinking. … If you're a repeat offender you really aren't entitled to the benefit of the doubt.”

Suh was suspended two games for last Thanksgiving's run-in with Dietrich-Smith, and given Anderson's comments it's reasonable to assume that the Lions defensive lineman could again be facing sanctions.

One league source told CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman that Suh could face a one-game suspension. Given his history that sounds about right.
