Lions coach Jim Schwartz makes joke at Titus Young's expense

Lions coach Jim Schwartz has to laugh to keep from crying. The Lions are 4-8, their defense is a mess, and the playoffs are a distant memory. Sort of like wide receiver Titus Young, whose inability to work well with others first landed him some alone time and, ultimately, a season-ending stint on injured reserve due to a knee injury.

Schwartz was asked Wednesday about Young's status and he used the occasion to work on his stand-up act:

The Lions haven't shied away from drafting players with off-field issues -- Nick Fairley, Mikel Leshoure and Johnny Culbreath immediately come to mind -- but Young, the 2011 second-round pick, can't seem to stay out of Schwartz's dog house. Given the competition, that's remarkable.

For now, Young's done for 2012. Whether he's done in Detroit remains to be seen.
