Report: Jay Cutler has a sprained MCL, will play Sunday

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

The Bears' worst nightmare is starting to come true: Jay Cutler is injured again, and it's once again a sprained MCL he's dealing with.

However, there's good news: Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Cutler's MCL sprain is "not remotely as serious" as the one that he suffered in the 2010 NFC Championship Game against the Packers.

At that time, Cutler was mercilessly berated on Twitter by random players around the league who questioned his toughness for not returning to the game.

Since then, Cutler has done more than his fair share to repair that reputation. So it shouldn't be surprising that, per Biggs, the quarterback plans to play on Sunday against the Packers in a game that's critical for Chicago's season.

Lovie Smith said Thursday there was no fear that Cutler's mobility might be limited.

"None at all," Smith said. "He practiced without any trouble at all. … He should be fine."

Cutler is listed on the injury report with both neck and knee injuries and returned to limited practice on Thursday after missing practice on Wednesday.

He'll reportedly return to full practice on Friday.
