Cowboys will honor Jerry Brown with '53' decal on helmets

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Cowboys lost a teammate and friend when Jerry Brown died in a car accident.

On Sunday, the team, with the permission of the NFL, will honor Brown by wearing "53" decals on their helmets. And, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the team will honor Brown for the remainder of the season by wearing the decals.

Per Rapoport, the team requested permission to wear the decal during the past 24 hours, and the NFL approved the uniform addition on Friday.

Brown was killed in an accident involving another Cowboys player, Josh Brent. Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter as a result of the accident. It has since been reported that Brent's blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

Brent has since been placed on the reserve/non-football injury list.
