Ray Lewis won't play Week 16, likely out for the regular season?

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

The Ravens backed into the playoffs last week, no thanks to their defense. And while they're currently the fourth seed in the AFC, the Ravens need a strong finish to avoid getting walked down in their division by Cincinnati or Pittsburgh.

It doesn't appear they'll have the help of middle linebacker Ray Lewis down the stretch of the regular season, though. They certainly won't have him Sunday against the Giants. The team announced Saturday he won't be activated.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Saturday that Lewis is unlikely to play in either of the remaining regular-season games.

John Harbaugh said Lewis is "coming along" recently, but clearly the linebacker is having a harder time recovering from the torn triceps.

Lewis returned to Ravens practice in early December and looked like a possibility to play against the Broncos last week but ultimately ended up remaining on IR.

The linebacker could potentially return for the playoffs, but that could certainly come into question as well.
