NFL Coaching Rumor Roundup: Friday, Jan. 18

Friday, Jan. 18

5:58 p.m.
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that former Jaguars defensive coordinator will be named the new Bears defensive coordinator.
5:54 p.m.
The Jets offensive coordinator job reportedly has gone to former Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.
4:09 p.m.
According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Jets have hired former Seattle executive John Idzik to be their new general manager. "Done deal," La Canfora wrote.
1:45 p.m.
Though it's been more than 5 minutes since the Cowboys fired Rob Ryan, ESPN reports that Ryan is interviewing with the Rams for the same spot.
1:40 p.m.
According to the NY Daily News, former Browns head coach Pat Shurmus is interviewing Friday for the Jets offensive coordinator position.
1:10 p.m.
As the AP's Mark Long points out, new Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said he's considering Seahawks defensive line coach Todd Wash and Bears linebacker coach Bob Babich for the Jacksonville defensive coordinator position.
12:26 p.m.
According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, one candidate to replace Bruce Arians as offensive coordinator is Pep Hamilton. The reason the move would make sense. Hamilton was Andrew Luck's offensive coordinator at Stanford.
12:17 p.m.
The Bears have announced they've hired Matt Cavanaugh as their new quarterbacks coach. Why should you know Cavanaugh? He was the Jets quarterback coach last year, meaning he worked with Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow (and Greg McElroy!).
10:12 a.m.
49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman talked to CSN Bay Area about whether he was surprised he didn't get a head coaching interview: "Not really. I've heard it's (his name) been out there a lot. But most of the time when that happens, it doesn't happen."
9:54 a.m.
As the Cowboys continue to look for coaches to fill out their staff, ESPN Dallas reports the team interviewed former Arkansas coach Houston Nutt for a possible job. Nutt has no NFL experience, and the only position open on the offensive side of the ball is the running backs coach.
9:45 a.m.
The team announced that Michael Lombardi has been named vice president of player personnel. Reviews of the decision haven't been good.
