Petition asks president to make day after Super Bowl a holiday

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer

President Barack Obama's administration has been trying to make it easy for all Americans' voices to be heard. Just about everyone, and that includes you Super Bowl fan, can try to affect change and have your voice heard at We The People, where you can "engage government" on important issues.

And that's exactly what one fantasy football website has done -- or is trying to do -- engage the government.

And while clearly 4for4.com's petition is not nearly as important as the Death Star issue, the folks at 4for4 have our best interests at heart -- they are asking the president to help ease our burden the day after the Super Bowl. In fact, 4for4.com wants the Monday after the Super Bowl to be made a national holiday.

Here's what the petition says:

In 2012, an estimated 111 million American citizens watched the Super Bowl, making it the most-viewed television broadcast in history and one of the largest location-independent gatherings of American people to date.

We at 4for4.com Fantasy Football petition the Obama Administration to consider declaring the Monday following Super Bowl Sunday a national holiday. By doing so, the Obama Administration can promote camaraderie among the American people, keep the streets safer for our children on Sunday night and Monday morning, promote a productive workplace when work resumes on Tuesday, and honor the most popular event in modern American culture.

In order for the administration to give an official response, the petition needs 100,000 signatures by Feb. 23. As of 2 p.m. ET on Jan. 24, 303 people had signed it.
