Former Redskins cornerback Fred Smoot was arrested on a DUI charge last month and, as the Washingtonian writes, Smoot had an accident once he got to the police station.
“During processing, in the service area, while handcuffed, the [defendant] peed his pants creating a puddle on the floor,” Washington police said in the affidavit. “[A police officer] witnessed the urine running down his pant leg and onto the floor. [Smoot] did not express that he had to use the restroom.”
Smoot was charged Jan. 10, and he pleaded not guilty Jan. 17. A status hearing on the case is scheduled for Feb. 19.
Smoot played in Washington from 2001-09 (with a two-year layover in Minnesota sandwiched in the middle). In his career, he started in 104 of the 129 games that he played in and recorded 21 interceptions.
He was arrested Dec. 30 after an officer noticed that he didn't have tags on his Audi A7. Police said Smoot didn't have registration tags inside his car. The officer said he smelled alcohol on Smoot's breath and that he had red, watery eyes. Smoot also appeared angry. When the officer asked him what was wrong, Smoot said “he got into it with his girl at the club.”
During the field sobriety test, the officer said Smoot was swaying, and he twice refused a breathe test at the police station.
