Ed Reed on being catfished: 'No I have never been Te'o'd'

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

NEW ORLEANS -- If you think that the Manti Te'o story is going to die out quickly, or that he'll be able to easily adapt to NFL life without any ribbing from teammates, well, you're probably wrong.

And Tuesday's Media Day in New Orleans proved why, particularly when Ravens safety Ed Reed was asked if he'd ever been catfished.

"No I have never been Te'o'd," Reed responded.

This was at the end of Reed's session; he was actually running over the scheduled time and being kind enough to just hang out and answer questions.

And while Reed was clearly being funny, the Manti Te'o hoax is a national storyline that isn't going away any time soon, particularly with the NFL combine on the horizon.

The Ravens safety dropped something about Te'o'ing (and other forms of Manti's last name), showing that the use of the Notre Dame linebacker's last name in reference to being catfished isn't just the sort of nomenclature thrown around by sarcastic media types.

It's the type of language thrown around by veteran football players and it's an example of how Te'o's transition to an NFL locker room could be incredibly difficult.
