Roger Goodell: Super Bowl power outage won't affect future NOLA SBs

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

NEW ORLEANS -- Even though the Super Bowl was nailed with a 34-minute power outage Sunday night, the game still managed to produce (likely) record ratings. And even though the outage was a logistical nightmare, it's not expected to hurt New Orleans' chances to host more Super Bowls.

That's according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who said at a short press conference Monday morning that he doesn't think the power outage will "have an impact" on future Super Bowls in this city.

"I fully expect we will be back for future Super Bowls," Goodell said.

New Orleans was, truly, an outstanding host city for the Super Bowl. It never felt overwhelmingly crowded, and the power outage was just about the only thing worth complaining about. Goodell echoed that sentiment.

"It was a fantastic week here," Goodell said. "This will not affect the people's view in the NFL about the success of the game here in New Orleans. We know they have an interest in future Super Bowls, and we look forward to evaluating it. I do not think this will have any impact on what I think will be remembered as one of the great Super Bowl weeks."
