Ray Edwards' boxing opponent suspended after alleged dive

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer

If you haven't seen the above video of Ray Edwards' boxing opponent appearing to take the most hilarious dive in boxing history last Saturday, stop what you're doing immediately and click play.

I'll wait for you to stop shaking your head in amazement because, as CBSSports.com's Ryan Wilson pointed out the other day, this whole boxing match is pure embarrassment. Funny, but ridiculous.

As such, the AP reports that Edwards' opponent, Nicholas Capes, has been suspended indefinitely in the state of North Dakota for what occurred vs. Edwards (the event took place in West Fargo).

The event promoter, Cory Rapacz, told the AP that Capes was a last-minute replacement for another boxer who no-showed and didn't realize what he was getting into before facing off against Edwards -- who is now 3-0 with two knockouts in his pro career. Rapacz also makes it clear that the promoter expected Capes to try to win the fight, which doesn't appear to have happened in the slightest.

Man, if only the Falcons' opponents facing Edwards last season had gone down so easily, perhaps Edwards might not have been cut in November.
