Report: CB Asomugha used to eat lunch in car away from teammates

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com

With the combine in the books and free agency two weeks off, we've hit one of the few slow periods in the NFL offseason. And that perhaps explains this report from WIP's Hollis Thomas, a former Eagles player, who said Tuesday that Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha would eat lunch in his car at the team's practice facility instead of with teammates to get some "me time."

The implication: Asomugha was aloof.

Or, you know, he was looking for a break from his co-workers.

So what else has Asomugha been accused of since signing a $60 million contract with the Eagles before the 2011 season? Here's what we were able to unearth (and by "unearth" we mean "completely make up in the name of clowning silly reports about where an adult chooses to consume food."):

Apparently, Asomugha also:

* Was a bad tipper.
* Often referred to himself in the third person.
* Didn't always wash his hands after using the bathroom.
* Would only address Nick Foles as "Napoleon Dynamite."
* Would only address DeSean Jackson as "Tito."
* Had it stipulated in his contract that co-workers had to avoid direct eye contact.

And so on and so forth.

Look, if the worst thing you can say about Asomugha (off the field, anyway) was that he wanted some "me time," then the dude's leading a pretty clean life. As a scout said on the subject of whether Manti Te'o's girlfriend, who was neither dead nor real, would affect the linebacker's draft stock: "We draft bank robbers."

Translation: Nobody cares. Just like the report that Asomugha sometimes dines solo.

And if he and the Eagles decide to part ways in the coming weeks, it will have everything to do with his poor performance the last two seasons. Because if Asomugha was playing like Richard Sherman, he could've eaten lunch off Jeffrey Lurie's desk with Andy Reid serving as the makeshift chair and nobody would've said anything.
