The Jets went out and asked their fans what they should do in free agency. Thus far, they don't appear to be listening to them. But they are, um, doing stuff. Like, um, restructuring Santonio Holmes deal to keep him on the roster. And, uh, signing quarterback David Garrard. Also, there are some serious rumors about a Darrelle Revis trade!
Goodson's actually an intriguing free agent, but I don't know that he's suddenly going to fix all the issues the Jets have.
As one of the Raiders backup running backs last year, Goodson ran for 221 yards on 35 carries. Those aren't exactly eye-popping numbers. But he had success at times with the Panthers, particularly during a three-game stretch in 2010 when he started and averaged 90 yards per game on 20 carries.
But he doesn't necessarily fit a "ground-and-pound" scheme, although with Marty Mornhinweg taking over as offensive coordinator it's likely we'll see something different from the Jets in 2013.
Goodson could end up being a nice, under-the-radar signing. Which is so very not Jets. And perhaps that's a good thing.
