The Dolphins said hello to free agent linebacker Dannell Ellerbe on Tuesday and now they're saying good bye to Karlos Dansby. With Ellerbe locked up for the next five years, Miami is set to release Dansby, according to CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Dansby would've made a base salary of $6.05 million in 2013.
The nine-year veteran has been with the Dolphins since signing as a free agent with the team in 2010 and was coming off arguably the best season of his career. Dansby tallied a team-high 134 tackles in 2012, a number that ranked tied for 11th in the league.
After playing in a 3-4 defense during his first two years in Miami, Dansby thrived last season, despite the Dolphins switch to a 4-3 defense.
Before joining the Dolphins, Dansby spent six seasons in Arizona.
