The Jaguars are making up for past mistakes under a new regime. And they bit the bullet on a really bad one, releasing wide receiver Laurent Robinson on Wednesday.

The news, first reported by Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, is a little curious because, as O'Halloran reports, he passed his physical and won't receive an injury settlement.

However, Robinson told Mark Long of the Associated Press he disagrees with that diagnosis and that he felt "lightheaded" during a workout on Tuesday. Robinson suffered four concussions with the Jaguars and was never healthy enough to produce. Robinson also said, per Long, that he told trainers he wasn't 100 percent during his workout.

The Jaguars gave Robinson a five-year, $32 million deal on March 14, 2012. It was a questionable deal at the time (to put it nicely) with Robinson coming off one big season as the third receiver for the Cowboys.

Yes, that is one year ago Thursday.

Robinson only played in seven games -- starting four -- and managed 24 catches for 252 yards and no touchdowns. He was due a $2 million roster bonus on Saturday, so it's not like this was a tough choice. Jacksonville still isn't set at wideout, but it's better off than it was this time last year, before it made the mistake to sign Robinson.

Best case this works out in the end for all parties; Robinson will hopefully get healthy and latch on somewhere else and the Jaguars will keep learning from the lesson and building the roster the right way.
