Jaguars sign former Texans Justin Forsett and Alan Ball

The Jaguars finished 10 games behind the Texans in the AFC South last season and it looks like they have an early plan for making that deficit up in 2013: signing Houston's players.

Former Texans Justin Forsett and Alan Ball were among three players signed by Jacksonville on Friday. The Jaguars also added former Tampa Bay defensive lineman Roy Miller, who signed a two-year deal, according to his agent Mike McCartney.

Forsett will go from backing up Arian Foster in Houston to backing up Maurice Jones-Drew in Jacksonville. The veteran running back carried the ball 63 times for 374 yards and a touchdown with the Texans last season, however, don't be surprised if Forsett sees a few more carries with Jacksonville. New Jaguars coach Gus Bradley is familiar with Forsett. The two spent three seasons together in Seattle (2009-2011) while Bradley was the defensive coordinator there.

As for Ball, he'll be leaving the state of Texas for the first time in his six-year NFL career. Ball, who was 2007 seventh round pick of the Cowboys, spent five seasons with in Dallas before signing with Houston in June. The veteran defensive back has started 19 games over the past three seasons, including one last year with the Texans.

Miller should help fill the void left by defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, who signed with the Broncos on Wednesday. Miller started 14 games for Tampa last season and had been with the Buccaneers since 2009 when Tampa took him in the third round of the draft.
