Former Cleveland Browns receiver and current free agent Josh Cribbs has failed his physical with the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPNCleveland.com. Cribbs was expected to sign with the team imminently.
Speculation was that Cribbs would sign as early as Monday, but the purported failed physical could have delayed those plans.
All is not lost, however. Cribbs' agent, J.R. Rickert, told USA Today's Mike Garafolo that Cribbs underwent surgery for a torn meniscus and he's not fully recovered. Rickert said that he expects the team to give Cribbs another shot in a few weeks.
Rickert is also disputing that Cribbs failed a physical at all, telling the Akron Beacon-Journal that the Cardinals wanted to give Cribbs' knee more time to heal.
In all, the expectation remains that Cribbs will end up with the Cardinals at some point.
Cribbs, 30, has spent the entirety of his nine-year career in Cleveland. His receiving stats have decreased in recent years, but he's long been one of the league's most dangerous kick returners throughout his career.
