There appears to be a new No. 2 quarterback in Cincinnati. The Bengals have agreed to terms with Josh Johnson on a two-year deal, according to Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat writer Jenna Laine. Johnson spent the first three seasons of his career with the Bucs before signing with Cleveland in December.

Johnson fills the void left by Bruce Gradkowski, who had been the Bengals backup quarterback since 2011. Gradkowski left Cincinnati on the second day of free agency to sign with Pittsburgh Steelers, leaving the Bengals without a proven backup quarterback.

The Bengals hosted Johnson for a visit on March 14, but at the time it didn't look like the team was in any hurry to make a decision, as coach Marvin Lewis told the Cincinnati Enquirer that the Bengals would take their time deciding on a backup.

The last 12 months have been a whirlwind for Johnson. The 49ers signed him in March 2012, but he was released before the regular season began. Johnson then spent most of the 2012 season out of football before being signed by the Browns in late December after Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy went down with injuries. Johnson served as a backup to Cleveland quarterback Thaddeus Lewis in the Browns' season finale.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden won't be the first Gruden that Johnson has crossed in his career. Johnson was drafted by Tampa Bay in 2008, John Gruden's final year with the Bucs.
