Chiefs visiting Florida DT Sharrif Floyd; would they draft him No. 1?

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer

We're about a month away from the NFL Draft, and with the acquisitions of Alex Smith and Chase Daniel, you can pretty much forget about the Chiefs selecting a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick.

So, where will Kansas City turn when they make that first pick?

Four of our experts think the Chiefs will grab either Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel or Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher, and they seem the most likely choices based on their latest dealings with tackle Branden Albert.

But the Chiefs are doing their due diligence this week, as the team's Twitter account reported this:

And this.

Of course, the big Gators attraction is defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, who is a consensus top-five pick (according to most of our experts, anyway). Of course, the Chiefs also partially could be using this trip to muddy the waters for those who might want to consider trading up for that No. 1 spot.

One other thought about grabbing a defensive lineman: Kansas City spent its first-round pick on defensive tackle Dontari Poe last season, and the team also has newly signed Mike DeVito and Tyson Jackson on the ends (though Jackson has been a disappointment in his career since he was taken in the first round in 2009).

So, another defensive lineman might not be Kansas City's biggest immediate need. But CBSSports.com colleague Will Brinson also is predicting the Chiefs will take a defensive player -- though he believes it'll be Oregon defensive end Dion Jordan.

Some, however, tend to believe that the Chiefs are sending up smokescreens to hide their true intentions.
