Report: Steelers aren't interested in bringing back James Harrison

Free agency hasn't gone according to plan for linebacker James Harrison, who must've thought that not only would he be employed by now, he'd be making close to -- or more than -- the $6.57 million the Steelerswere set to pay him in 2013 before they asked him to take a pay cut. And when the two sides couldn't come to an agreement on just how much less Harrison should earn, they went their separate ways.

And for two weeks now, Harrison has been unemployed. On Monday, his agent, Bill Parise, reportedly said they'd even welcome a call from the Steelers. Turns out, the Steelers have moved on.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette writes that Parise said Harrison "has a couple things going on," but declined to say which teams are interested in the linebacker. But according to Bouchette, "the Steelers are not one of them and let Harrison know over the weekend they have decided to go with others at his old position at right outside linebacker."

Put another way: The organization is ready to move forward with 2010 second-round pick Jason Worilds, who has played behind Harrison since arriving in Pittsburgh. Bouchette also reported the Steelers have interest in free agent Dwight Freeney, who spent 11 seasons with the Colts, and all but one of them -- 2012 -- at defensive end. But Freeney, 33, is probably a better fit in Denver or New Orleans, where he wouldn't be asked to drop into coverage and could do what he does best: rush the passer.

Harrison, meanwhile, continues to look for work. Last month, Steelers coaches reportedly wanted him back in Pittsburgh but the front office wasn't going to pay him $6.57 million. And now it appears that Brian Urlacher money won't be enough of a salary clash for the Steelers to bring Harrison back.
