Dr. James Andrews recently called Griffin's recovery "superhuman" and Griffin himself said on Tuesday he's "ahead of schedule." Before saying that, however, Griffin proved it.
By playing catch. With an elephant.
Show was great and I got to throw the ball to the only female & biggest WIDE receiver in the WORLD!!!! … say.ly/QEy5rnu— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) March 25, 2013
Griffin was at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus in Washington, just hanging out with some fans, slinging the pigskin around.
He was also trying on some interesting clothes, rocking a fancy circus coat that he called an "epic" "Prince Jacket."
So, yeah, Griffin's just out there having fun. Or something. The reality is he has looked ahead of schedule in terms of his recovery; he wasn't limping at the NFL Honors in New Orleans when he accepted his Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
And now he's palling around with elephants.
"My knee is getting better every day. The doctors say I'm ahead of schedule," Griffin said in a text to ESPN's Trey Wingo. "My goal is to return healthy in week one but if I'm not ready then i will wait until i am, however long that is. My first NFL season and my injury that ended it showed me a lot about the league, my team and myself. i know where my responsibility is within the dilemma that led to me having surgery to repair my knee and all parties involved know their responsibilities as well.
"I'm looking forward to playing the game we all love so much again and not behind at the negative. thanks for the overwhelming level of support that i've received, sic em bears and hail to the redskins!!"
[Sic] 'em indeed, RG3. I kid, I kid. That's an absurdly long "text message" and even the most grammatically correct person would slip a few times writing all of that. But maybe not an elephant. They never forget.
