Interest is picking up in free-agent tight end Fred Davis.

After visiting the Bills on Thursday, Davis will meet with the Jets on Friday, according to Bills Radio Network sideline reporter Joe Buscaglia.

Both teams need a tight end badly. Bills starter Scott Chandler, recovering from a torn ACL, isn't expected to be ready for the season opener. The Jets lost starter Dustin Keller to the Dolphins in free agency.

Davis, 27, told reporters that returning to Washington, where he spent his first five seasons, remains an option. He also claimed to be “way ahead” in his recovery from the torn Achilles tendon he suffered in Week 7 last year.
