The exodus from New York continues for former Jets players. On Friday, the team officially lost its starting left guard when the Bears announced they had agreed to terms with Matt Slauson on a one-year contract.

Slauson was ranked 31st among all guards by the Pro Football Focus metrics last year (and 37th the year before that and 32nd in 2010). Last year, he had to accept a paycut from the Jets after winning the starting job.

Slauson -- whom we ranked as the 79th-best free agent -- will replace Lance Louis, who recently signed a contract with Miami.

“We are excited that Matt will be a Bear,” general manager Phil Emery said in a statement. “He brings physical play and smarts to the offensive guard position and to the offensive line as an overall unit. His size, strength and power will allow him to challenge for either of the starting guard positions.”

New York has lost Slauson, Mike Devito, LaRon Landry, Bart Scott, Shonn Greene and Dustin Keller from last year's squad.
