Robert Griffin III 'just about ready' to start running on the field

Robert Griffin III's been all over the news this offseason. He's playing catch with elephants, he's tweeting about the president, he's tweeting about Baylor basketball and, um, oh yes, he's also "ahead of schedule" while recovering from major knee surgery.

The Redskins quarterback is apparently set to take a big step soon too; his father, Robert Griffin II, told the Washington Post that RG3 is "just about ready" to start running on the field.

“He's been running in the pool, and some on the treadmill," Griffin's father told the Post. “But they're just about ready to take it out on the field."

Now, running on a field doesn't exactly qualify as "superhuman" on any real level.

But having RG3 take the field and start really working on full-blown rehab is absolutely taking things to the next level.

By all accounts, his rehabilitation is going quite well. Getting Griffin on the field to see how his knee responds to running is a good thing.

The Redskins -- hopefully -- won't push him and will stick to their proclamation that they'll hold off on having Griffin take snaps until he's 100 percent.

For now they've got to be pleased with the way things are progressing, especially if taking the field doesn't lead to any serious setbacks.
