Ex-Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum joins Priority Sports as coaching agent

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum found quick work after being fired from his gig in New York, handling pre-draft coverage for the NFL Network. Now he's gotten another job as well, joining Priority Sports as an agent for coaches.

The news was first reported by CBSSports.com's Bruce Feldman.

As Bruce also noted, Tannenbaum graduated cum laude from Tulane Law School, so he's certainly qualified for the legal work involved with being an agent.

Additionally, his front-office work makes him uniquely qualified for the job, one that he's quite excited about.

"It's a great opportunity,” Tannenbaum told the New York Daily News. “It's a unique opportunity to work with [Priority Sports CEO] Mark Bartlestein and [agents] Rick Smith and Mike McCartney. They have a great reputation in the business ... an impeccable reputation ... and I'm excited."

Adding Tannenbaum should give Priority some nice inroads towards locking up potential coaching candidates and it's a move that they consider a "home run."

“For us to be able to add an executive of the caliber of Mike Tannenbaum is an absolute home run for our company and our clients,” Bartlestein said in a statement released by the agency. “We couldn't be happier to have Mike on board. We are extremely excited about establishing the new division, which is a perfect fit for Priority Sports & Entertainment.”
