Seahawks to sign QB Brady Quinn as a back-up for Russell Wilson

One season after starting eight games for one of the worst teams in the NFL, Brady Quinn could put individual pursuits aside for a chance to win a Super Bowl.

Following a strong workout with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, Quinn agreed to terms with the Seahawks on Tuesday afternoon, the team has confirmed. Quinn spent last season with the Chiefs after serving in a reserve capacity with the Broncos from 2010 to 2011. The former Notre Dame All-American was selected in the first-round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Browns, but only started 12 games in three seasons with Cleveland.

The Seahawks had a void at backup quarterback after trading Matt Flynn to the Raiders on April 1. Seattle also reportedly considered Raiders free agent quarterbackMatt Leinart , former Browns quarterback Seneca Wallace and Bills free agent quarterback Tyler Thigpen . Wallace served as Matt Hasselbeck's backup with the Seahawks from 2003 to 2009.

Quinn has struggled to meet the high expectations placed on him when he entered the league six seasons ago. Last season, Quinn finished with two touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 56.9 percent of his passing attempts. In spite of Quinn's low touchdown total, his completion percentage in 2012 was the highest of his six-year career. Quinn has 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions since entering the professional ranks.

One downside to Wilson's dual-threat capabilities is his increased potential for injury. In 2012, Wilson ranked second among all quarterbacks in carries behind Robert Griffin III. Wilson ended his rookie season with 94 carries for 489 yards.

Quinn's one-year contract with the Chiefs in 2012 paid him a base salary of $1.5 million. Bovada currently lists the Seahawks as the fourth choice to win Super Bowl XLVIII at odds of 9-1.
